Sponsorship

Well I entered a new chapter in my awesome journey in sobriety. I took on a sponsee for the first time tonight. I am both excited and scared. The excitement comes from finally being able to pass on what was freely given to me. The fear is that I might not be ready to be anyones sponsor as I have yet to get one myself. I felt an immediate connection to this frail young woman, who I wrote about here a few weeks ago. She is doing amazing and I feel pretty damn good that anyone would even consider asking ME...ME to help guide them on their new journey! I just wanted to share this news with you all, now I must go eat. I think I actually forgot to do this today....NOT GOOD. Brightest blessings to all.....

I do not know the sponsor "rules", but I feel if you have been there, you can be a guide to someone else.
It is important to work the steps thoroughly once yourself before teaching them. That I have seen with my own sponsor, whose experience really shows.

There were times when I only wanted to be understood, or hugged. You can give that away!

Ok, did I miss something?
Did you lose your sponsor?

I'm glad someone asked you to sponser them, but it's not a good idea to try to teach someone else how to walk the walk if you're not doing it. Just sayin'. Maybe you should get a sponser too. jeNN

I was honest in my post about my lack of a sponsor, KNOWING this is what I would hear from those of you who have been there. I appreciate YOUR honesty and I will let my "sponsee" know that I can be temporary but will be there for her no matter what. She needs to find someone who has worked the steps for sure. Oh, and I NEED to get a sponsor !!!!

I am encouraged that you are strong enough to reach out and help another while still working on yourself . I am just not anywhere near that yet.

Thank you for your comment on my blog!
