My Big Sister

This beautiful lady is my big sister Marilyn. Sadly we lost her to addiction and alcoholism 9 years ago today. She struggled her whole life with this disease until a methadone overdose put her out of her misery. She was one of those that just could not "get" it. Not from lack of trying. She was in and out of programs, rehabs, meetings, institutions and the list goes on. I miss her terribly and think of her often. I hope she is at peace now. Her struggle and untimely death are a constant reminder for me to continue on my journey in recovery. But for the Grace of God go I. Queen.....OUT

May God's peace be with you as you remember and honor your sister's memory. My prayers are with you, friend.

What a beauty! A life taken too soon for sure. It seems though that she left you a wonderful reminder that continues to help you. What a gift you have in that.

I'm glad that you wrote about your sister. It makes me sad to read about such a loss. I'm glad that you are where you are--it's a good day above ground.

Queen I really think God and your sister are watching over you. The day before her anniversary He puts a suffering alcoholic in your path that you were able to be an example to.

I am so sorry for the loss of your sister, that had/has to be just terrible for you.

I'm so afraid for my son. If it were not for faith, the program of AlAnon, and my supportive friends and family I would not be able to bear the stress.
